Pastor and Deacons

Pastor Derick was born and raised in East London. He is married to Yvonne and they have two grown-up children Raeanne and Ashley.

Pastor became a Christian in 1993 through the witness of his Aunt. Through the love of Christ, he was saved and then served as a member, Sunday School teacher and then subsequently a Deacon of Hackney Evangelical Reformed Church for 20 years.

Responding to the call of God upon his heart he attended the Theological Training College in Bala, run by the Evangelical Movement of Wales in 2007 and studied part time for four years.

During this time, he was privileged to be invited to preach at many churches around the UK, including Leeds, Manchester, The Midlands South Wales, Kent and Essex to name a few; Some who were actively looking for a Pastor.

By the providence of God, he was invited to preach at Hope in early 2012. The church subsequently called him to be the Pastor.

Having just given God thanks and praise for 9 years of Service to the fellowship at Hope on 1st June 2022; Pastor continues, with God’s strength and guidance, to teach and preach, counsel and care for all who walk through the doors of Hope and beyond; working with local schools and others to speak about the Lord Jesus Christ.

He loves Golf and the Saxophone, which he is determined to get better at both.

But his greatest love is serving the Lord

His motto being; ‘Preach the Word; Love the People’

Brian is Newham born and bred and lives locally and was a local government officer for over 40 years. He is married to Rosalyn and they have three adult children and two grand-children.

Brian became a Christian in 1972 through the witness of a work colleague. In God’s grace, this was reinforced by the testimony of a former pupil at his secondary school who had been remanded in prison and was saved through reading a Bible in his cell.

In the early 1990s whilst attending a church some distance from their home, the family began visiting churches more local to them, including Hope. The family were made very welcome and quickly felt ‘at home’, enjoying the ministry and fellowship; also, the children had a place to attend with other Christian young people.

Brian currently serves as a Deacon. He has variously been a Sunday school teacher, lead a work-place Christian group, a trustee and deputy chairman of a national Christian charity. From time to time he is invited to preach at Hope and other churches. Interests include history and developing his model railway.

Howard Brown is one of the deacons at Hope Baptist Church. He answered the Lord’s calling for service.

After arriving in England as a little boy in 1975 growing up in Newham, Howard attended comprehensive school in East London and then East ham college of technology, having lived most of his life in Newham. After leaving college in 1987, he spent 11 years as a van courier driving in and around London, then worked 19 years driving buses.

Here at hope there those who could tell you what Howard was like before he became a Christian. In July 2016, Howard was baptised and was asked two years ago to consider becoming a Deacon. The brothers and sisters here at Hope were happy for him me to take on such a role.

His duties consist of overseeing the live broadcast on the Lord day morning, along with a few others who provide support. Along with this, he serves as the church treasurer and occasionally leads bible study on a Wednesday evening. Any job which he is able and capable of doing, he will readily do.

Howard’s prayer is that we will be able to meet and greet you here at Hope Baptist church.

May the Lord that we serve be with you.
